Just a few Nashville-y things I wanted to mention:
- Theory 8 Records is currently running a 5 for $15 Sale - meaning you can nab any five of their releases for $15 (plus shipping and handling). It's a pretty sweet deal, particularly when you consider the artists on their roster: Caitlin Rose, The Carter Administration, Forget Cassettes, Apollo Up!, De Novo Dahl, The Whole Fantastic World and a bunch more. Just order away, and when you hit the special instructions field, all you have to do is type in the releases you want.
- Nashville Cream is almost two years old, and they'll be celebrating their b-day with a big party at Mercy Lounge on Saturday, August 23 - so mark your calendars, kids. And then head on over to the Scene's website to take the Most Awesome Nashville Rock Song Survey. It's a rocksperiment of sorts - fill in all the details of what you think makes an awesome rock song, then the Cream will tally your results and a band of local musicians will play the song you created at the party next month. Pretty nifty, huh?
I feel like there's something else too, but I just can't remember. Ah well, if there is it'll end up in another post.
PS - I'll have a show preview up later today, but in the meantime pencil me in at 10 p.m. cause tonight's guest DJs are Rollum Haas and Ryan Norris from The Privates (and between the two of them - a billion other local bands).
I was looking to the right and noticed how many shows are this Friday. HIBTB, Nomo, Colour Revolt. If I know one thing about Nashville's music scene, it's that there shouldn't be more than one show per night that pulls from the same audience. A person could see both Nomo and Colour Revolt, though, since they're across the street from each other.
