Tomorrow night, in what I'm already calling "Janet's favorite show EVER" (well, at least until my 8 off 8th at the end of the month), three of my favorite bands are going to be hitting the Basement. First up - Howlies are back in town from Atlanta, and if you didn't head out to see them the last two times they were in Nashville, you had better come out for this one. Last October we were treated to furry wolf ears, in January we got awesome costumes, and both shows were a smoke machine-filled, percussion-y, ridiculously good time. I can't wait to see what they bring tomorrow night.
Howlies - "Angeline"
Also on the bill are two of my favorite local acts, and bands you've heard a TON about here. If you haven't seen Hotpipes yet - well... I can't even describe how much you're missing out. With the release of Future Bolt and the past few shows I've seen them play, they've officially earned the title of my favorite Nashville band, and since I haven't seen them since the CD release show, I'm psyched about tomorrow night. And rounding things out is And the Relatives, a band I've been crazy about since last fall's Next Big Nashville festival - and a band I've been trying to persuade to start playing a hell of a lot more around town. Their addition to this bill pretty much makes my month.
Hotpipes - "Thunderbolt"
And the Relatives - "Simulated Blindness"
So there you go, three great bands with the fullest of full Out the Other endorsements - it's almost like I lined this show up myself (I actually didn't, but I seriously would have picked the same three bands). Things kick off at 9 p.m., I believe the cover is a mere $5, and like all shows at the Basement this one is 21+.
