I am super, super excited that tonight, my absolute favorite music-making boys out of Atlanta, Howlies, will be in town to play the Basement. That's them above, sporting the fuzzy ears they first debuted right here in Nashville last time they were in town (to play 3 Crow Bar with Hotpipes). You may have noticed that I wrote about them just two days ago, because their tune "Angeline" was one of my favorites from last year. If you didn't check it out then, here it is again:
"Angeline"
If you've seen the band before, you've probably had this one marked on your calendar for a while. And if you haven't seen Howlies live yet, you're in for a treat. They're an absolute blast live - in fact, I don't think it would be possible to give them a higher recommendation. Granted the rambunctious Nashville Roller Girls were in attendance at their last Nashville gig, but that show was filled with a smoke machine, a volunteer percussion section and plenty of crazy dancing - so it was pretty much the most fun I've had at a show in a long time. Tonight's gig is only $5 (Tallest Trees and Sleep Study are also on the bill), and I promise it's worth checking out.
Just to give you an idea of how awesome these guys are, here's their fun home-made video for "Aluminum Baseball Bat." And yup, this is pretty much what they're like in person:
