David Condos is another artist on the lineup that was relatively new to me - and while I was in the midst of my artist interviews, he actually contacted me to introduce himself and his music. Of course I roped him into doing an interview as well so we can learn a little bit more about the singer.

How long have you lived in Nashville, and if you're not from here originally, why did you decide to move?
I grew up in Omaha, NE. My family and I moved here toward the end of my time in high school, about six years ago. So I didn't move here to pursue music. Actually, I was a drummer until three years ago. But I'm really happy with the way it's all turned out.
Please describe your music in five words or less.

What can we expect from your performance at Next Big Nashville?
Our live show is a bit more raw and energetic than the recordings demonstrate. All the current band members except for one joined after the album released, so they've had a big impact on the development of our live sound. And The Rutledge is a really good venue, so the sound will be great.
What do you think is the best thing about the Nashville music scene?
It has a really great balance. It's big enough to have lots of good artists and venues, but small enough to feel connected. And we have Jack White now.
What do you think is missing?
I don't know if this qualifies as part of the "scene," but a lot of great tours still skip over Nashville. I'm really excited about Interpol at The Ryman later this month though.
Earlier this summer you wrapped up your first full-band tour. What's one album you can't live without when you're on the road?
One album that we listened to a lot on that tour was Boxer by The National, because it had just come out. I'm a huge fan of theirs, so that'd be a hard one to separate myself from. As far as an all-time can't-live-without album goes, I would have to say The Beatles' Revolver.
David Condos will be playing Next Big Nashville tonight, September 7 at 8 p.m. at The Rutledge. Visit http://www.nextbignashville.net to view the full festival schedule and purchase a five-day wristband for $30.
He'll be at the French Quarter in Nashville tomorrow night (9/15) with some other great acts! Free show, come on out!
