Everyone knows how much I love (and love to plug) all the excellent in-stores that take place at Grimey's - but today's show is pretty much going to take the cake. Today at 6 p.m., the record store is celebrating the release of the new Walkmen album, You & Me, with Grimey's staffers covering the Walkmen. I'm not sure if you're aware of it, but many of your favorite, crazy-talented Nashville indie rockers are practically giggling fanboys when it comes to the Walkmen, and today they'll be playing tribute the best way they know how - by playing some of their favorite band's favorite tunes.
The cover band is comprised of Jon Rogers (Hotpipes), Dave Paulson (The Privates), Rollum Haas (The Features/The Privates), Ryan Norris (Lambchop/The Privates/Hands off Cuba) and Luke Schneider (Cortney Tidwell/Lylas). They're all fantastic guys in fantastic local bands, and this much talent meeting this much fandom means this show is NOT TO BE MISSED. No, seriously.
The in-store kicks off at 6 p.m., so scoot on over to Grimey's right after work and get a good spot. The boys will be playing one new track off of You & Me, along with some old favorites. And be sure to pick up the new Walkmen record while you're there - it's amazing!
The Walkmen - "In the New Year" (from You & Me)
The Walkmen - "The Rat" (from Bows + Arrows)
And remember, the ACTUAL Walkmen will be in town on October 13 to play the Basement. I'm betting you can buy tickets to the show while you're at Grimey's today.
