Jamie Lidell - Jim

I don't know what it is, but there are times when my taste in music is HUGELY influenced by the weather. I think everyone is like that to a certain extent - I'm pretty sure you all have your favorite rainy-day records - but for me there are a few times every year when the albums I keep coming back to have everything to do with what's going on outside my window.
Like right now, for instance. Summer is stretching its sleepy legs and slowly climbing out of bed, and all I want to listen to is whatever is playing on its clock radio. And for the past week or so that's been Jamie Lidell's new one, Jim - it's exactly what I imagine Summer wakes up to on a sunshine-y Saturday morning. Slackly funky, soaked in the heat of the first few 80-degree days of the year - it's the soundtrack for that perfect temperature when you can dance barefoot on the lawn without breaking much of a sweat.
Jim is out now on Warp Records - and the number of times I've put it on repeat is just about as full an endorsement as you can get.
