30 Days, 30 Albums - Feist - The Reminder

I know everyone is getting a little sick of Feist's "One Two Three Four" - it's getting hard to turn around without hearing the song. It was even playing the other day when I was in Goodwill - and you know something is pretty mainstream when it's being played somewhere that typically restricts its musical selections to those '70s and '80s tunes you're embarrassed to catch yourself singing along to.
But you have to admit, it pretty much rocks that the girl is getting this popular; after all, she sure does deserve it. And the other day, when I heard "One Two Three Four" for the eight-trillionth time, I decided that instead of fleeing from all things Leslie Feist, I would embrace the ubiquitous song and pull out my copy of The Reminder. I loved the album when it first came out, and it only took one more listen to realize how it managed to spawn the new "Young Folks" - it's an excellent, excellent album, full of more than just one wonderful song. And you know, within the context of the full record, all the iPod commercial annoyingness drops away and "One Two Three Four" sounds darn... perfect. So don't let it keep you from enjoying everything else The Reminder has to offer.
