Fujiya & Miyagi - "Uh"
I really can't believe I haven't really written about Fujiya & Miyagi yet. I feel like I've been listening to them for ages - in fact I'm pretty sure I first played "In One Ear & Out the Other" (which is the obvious choice for my theme song) back at the end of January when Transparent Things saw its release here in the US on Deaf Dumb & Blind. Since then I managed to see them live - twice! - at SXSW, meet them and compliment their sneakers at (what I think was) the Pitchfork day party, and listen to their album almost non-stop, pretty much as much as anything else I've loved this year. Aka, Transparent Things has become one of my favorite albums of 2007.
So apparently it took new Fujiya & Miyagi for me to get around to writing a post. The group has a new single, called simply "Uh," and since I didn't get a chance to play it on the show last night, I decided to share it here. It definitely takes me back to March - I'm pretty sure they played it both times I got to see them live; definitely at their official showcase which was a little deafening but a total highlight of the festival.
"Uh"
And from Transparent Things, as a bonus:
"In One Ear & Out the Other"
And as ANOTHER bonus, here's a track off of Electro Karaoke in the Negative Style, their first crazy-hard-to-track-down album, which I finally got my hands on last month:
"Uptight"
Seriously, if you haven't heard Transparent Things yet, do yourself a favor and pick it up. And by all means try to catch Fujiya & Miyagi live - you can check out tour dates on their myspace.

Thanks for the bonus track. That's one of my favourites.
I saw Fujiya&Miyagi when they opened up for Swedish band Peter Bjorn and John at San Francisco's Popscene festival in May. They started playing and I had to get up from my chair, leave my drink on the table, go to the front and check them out. I couldn't help but dance a little. Fujiya&Miyagi is on my list for favourites of 2007.
