This is the third time I've seen Margot & the Nuclear So & So's... and the first time I've seen them play to an appropriately large, excited-to-see-them audience. The set was short but fantastic ("Paper Kitten Nightmare" might actually grow on me if I hear it live again), the band was in rare ready-to-fight form (I think the near-scuffle on stage was just a result of excessive alcohol consumption - something they had in common with the entire audience), and lead singer Richard Edwards even remarked that this was the best time they've ever had in Nashville (the band has never been shy about sharing their disappointment in our fair city and their no-backpacks-in-McDonald's fascist ways).
The performance definitely whet my appetite for their next appearance in Nashville - at the Basement again on Monday, May 29 with Film School. Absolutely, postively worth your $7. I hope they throw shoes again.
And have I mentioned that The Dust of Retreat currently has a lock on my #1 album of 2006 slot?
"Barfight Revolution, Power Violence"

Hmm. I just realized that the song that looked like it might end in a barfight was actually "Barfight Revolution, Power Violence." ;)
