#8. Inara George (no longer playing the festival)
From: Los Angeles, California
Since I spent the better part of the afternoon listening to a Little Feat bootleg from 1974 (September 19 to be exact - 7 years to the day before I was born!), I thought I should talk about this artist.
Inara George is the daughter of Little Feat guitarist and singer Lowell George, who died of a heart attack when she was only five years old. Inara still grew up surrounded by music - especially that of her father's friends, including her "uncle" Jackson Browne, who sings on her album. After dabbling in a few indie groups, George released her debut solo album, All Rise, in January of this year.
Her sound is described as "coffee house folk-pop" with influences ranging from classic to indie rock. The description works for me - I think her music would be ideal for a rainy Sunday afternoon spent indoors with a book and an album. She definitely has a clear, beautiful voice that made this drizzly day seem a bit less gloomy.
On January 18, Inara George played a set on Morning Becomes Eclectic. Watch or listen to her performance here. Also, check out her website for streams off of All Rise.
Sadly, Inara George is no longer playing the festival!
